I'm happy to welcome you to my site dedicated to the cadets and faculty of the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership. These images show "The Hill," former campus of Staunton Military Academy. The alumni of SMA and the VWIL cadets have a storybook relationship. The "Old Boys" were alumni without a corps to support and the VWIL program at Mary Baldwin College was brand new and struggling for its place among military college programs. The SMA alumni provide scholarships and other donations to the program and the VWIL cadets keep our traditions—from honor and duty to the Howie Rifles—alive for generations to come. The VWIL cadets have made their place among military college programs and once a year the "Old Boys" get to march with the young women in green and are proud to do so.
